AI Zoomies & Code Regrets

Ever have your AI rewrite the same function over and over — only to end up where it started? Or fix a bug that wasn’t even real?
That, my friend, is an AI Zoomie: when your AI coder gets hyperactive, hallucinates, and starts running in circles. It looks productive — but it’s motion without direction.
And it gets worse when your code commits are big. Because then you’ve got a wall of changes to sort through — and you have no idea where the hallucination started.
That’s why in VibeCoding, size matters.
Sure, small commits have always been good practice — but when you’re building with AI agents, they’re essential. Smaller inputs mean tighter control, less mess, more clarity. And more chances to course-correct before things drift.
Vibe Coding Rules of Thumb:
Write smaller changes: Give your AI agent bite-sized prompts or scoped tickets. Stick to clear, focused asks. Trying to do too much at once leads to noise, not results.
Test frequently: Run early, catch drift fast. AI course-corrects better when you give it regular feedback.
Merge often: Like, obnoxiously often. In VibeCoding, tight iteration loops aren’t optional — they’re survival.
Tighter prompts keep agents aligned and shorter commits keep your future self sane.
💥 Novice Tip: If things start spiralling — don’t be afraid to nuke it all.
AI writes fast, sometimes faster than it thinks. Scrap the bloated response, refocus your intent, and try again. Resetting isn’t failure — it’s a power move.
